New Jersey woman and toddler OK after train strikes car

By Brandigal (Donna)     Feb 13, 2007 in Crime
A mother and her toddler walk away after a train hits their SUV.
Yolonda Bishop, 37 and her 2 1/2 year old daughter walked away when the SUV she was driving was hit by a freight train.
Witness's said the lights were flashing and the trains horns were going but that the mother tried to cross the tracks anyways. The mother said she did not see the lights or hear the horns.
The train was travelling at about 25 mph when it struck the SUV, pushing it into an abandoned building, crushing the suv and collapsing a porch on the building.
The mother and daughter were taken to hospital as a precaution but both are said to be OK. One good thing was that the little girl was in her car seat in the back seat and strapped in properly.
The mother will likely be charged for disregarding a railroad crossing signal
She is very lucky that her daughter or her were not hurt.
