It seems country radio hasn' t forgiven the Dixie Chics.
Inspite of wiinning 5 grammys, music row still hasn't welcomed them back with open arms. Many radio stations stopped playing the Dixie Chics after the comments made about President Bush in 2003.
The owner of Alabama station WTDR -FM says they haven't been playing the Dixie Chics and won't start now. When Natalie Maines remarked "Just so you know,we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas.", she became the center of controversy amid conservatives.
Maines is still mad about the incident and won't back down. The Grammy award for best album almost is never won by a Nashvile act. Other winners have been Allison Krauss and Loretta Lynn and neither got air time.
The last country album to win Grammy award for album of the year was the"O Brother,Where Art Thou" soundtrack. Why can't everyone get over themselves?
