article imageHope you approve, director asks Tolkien at grave

By RobotGod     Feb 11, 2007 in Entertainment
The director of a revamped "The Lord of the Rings" musical went to J.R.R. Tolkien's grave to seek the author's posthumous blessing for staging the cult classic -- and he apologized in case the writer disapproved.
The director says that it was a magical moment when he visited the grave. He visited the grave to apologize in case Tolkien didnt like the idea of a musical and to get his seal of approval. It opens in London in June where it faces tough competition. I have to say that shows great respect for a fellow creative artist, to go out of his way to do that. I have to admire that.I suppose if it is a hit, Tolkien will be said to be pleased. And if it tanks, they will say Tolkien was not happy*L*
