Honda Civic Hybrid Recall

By MichaelDoherty     Feb 9, 2007 in Business
The Honda Civic hybrid is being recalled due to a voltage converter defect. Around 45 thousand cars are involved in the recall.
Hybrids tend to be very reliable vehicles despite the complexity because they are under the spotlight, so it's surprising whenever you see one involved in a recall procedure.
Honda is starting the recall to fix a possible issue with a voltage converter located behind the rear passenger. The weight of the passenger could push a wire, which could cause a short, which could stop the engine and prevent it from restarting.
Honda is unaware of any accidents related to this issue. Affected vehicles involve any Civic Hybrids built from Sept '05 to Sept '06.
