Dube has surgery after being cut by skate

By Brandigal (Donna)     Feb 9, 2007 in Sports
Canadian pairs skater Jessica Dube had to have surgery last night to repair a deep cut on her left cheek and nose after being hit by partner Bryce Davison's skate in the free skate competition.
The pair was competing at the free skate competition at Four Continents. They were on their third rotation of a side-by-side camel, where one leg is parallel to the ice as they spin and Davison began to drift toward Dube, catching her with his skate.
She fell to the ice, holding her face and blood was pouring all over the ice. Davison was holding her until medical staff got to her and took her to the hospital. She was taken off the ice by stretcher.
She was lucky the skate did not hurt her eyes and she did not break anything.
Her coach Annie Barabe said "She's in good spirits and sent her well wishes to all of the skaters," "She's being attended to at the hospital right now and is receiving excellent medical attention.''
