Morbidly Obese Woman Seeks Surgeon to Save Her Life

A Shreveport La woman who is 550 pounds is having trouble finding a doctor to do the gastric surgery needed to save her life.

Janice Dickens is 41 and weights more than 551 pounds. She has been in ICU for heart failure many times. She can barely walk and needs constant help. Firefighters help her get to hospitals and also fix her stove. Now medicaid will pay for the surgery because her other health problems will go away if she has the surgery to lose the weight. The surgery will cost about $22,000. The problem is, she cannot find a doctor willing to accept Medicaid. Hopefully a doctor will come to her aid and do the surgery she needs.
