Sure ways to spot a Counterfeit.... Dont get caught with something useless.
You're on a trip overseas and you can't believe your eyes. In addition to all the great sights a country has to offer, you're drawn to an unbelievable bargain at a kiosk or a mall.
They have an MP3 player, a watch, a cell phone or an expensive purse for half the price you'd pay back home.
Hardly trusting your luck, you buy it, get it through customs and show it off to your friends.
It's only when something quickly goes wrong with it that you learn the truth - you've just bought a counterfeit item that's not only virtually worthless, you can't even get it repaired.
It's a scenario we can all relate to. After all getting something for less is built into the very beings of most of us. But is it worth it and how can you tell when a good deal is simply a good deal of trouble?
here's a list of tips to show you what to look for before you buy anything anywhere and get stuck with something that's not the real thing.
-Significantly lower pricing: if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Compare pricing of similar products, as well as warranty and standard trademarks.
-Cheap production: check the "look and feel" of goods. Fakes are often light and too flimsy.
-Poor spelling: look for misspellings and unclear printing on packaging, products, labels, or instructions.
-Inferior packaging: counterfeit packaging often has poor design or shows only partial illustrations.
-Missing items: check for a discrepancy between the contents of the package and the item's description on the outside of the package, as well as for missing product information.
-Trust no one: Even reputable retailers are subject to counterfeit goods. Look closely before you buy and question the product's origin if you see anything that's not right.
