A Japanese man told police he stole a patrol car that had been left idling outside a post office in Gunma, north of Tokyo, because he was too tired to walk home.
The police left the car running while they investigated a stolen card being used in the Post Office.
"I came out shopping by train, but I got tired walking, so I thought I would drive the police car home," the man told police.
He was apprehended 15 minutes later in the driveway of a private home.
Did he think they would not mind? Well damn, when you are tired, you are tired so go ahead and take police property. Obviously, it ended up costing him much more activity which likely tired him out some more. I am waiting for the story that says "he was so tired after he got out on bail, he took a parked cab."
