Workers Ignore Data Rules

By vmunster     Feb 5, 2007 in Business
Security is one of those things that is everybody's problem, yet nobody's problem.
A recent poll taken by McAfee shows that although 84% of workers claim that they are taught at work how to handle sensitive information 1 out of every 5, do not follow these rules. Instead, they let people borrow their devices that hold sensitive company information, and even print out sensitive information and just leave them in the printer tray.
"Policy combined with technology that focuses on outside attacks alone clearly isn't enough to protect companies from the threat of data loss,"
The internal threat of data loss seems to be more dangerous than it happening externally. 88% of those polled admitted that the transfer of data is done by email...Scary.
