Roy man charged in rape of girl he met on Livelinks

By brooketerra     Feb 5, 2007 in Crime
A 22-year-old Roy man has been charged with the rape of a 17-year-old girl he met through a chatline and dating service.
And this is only one reason why being the "Cat lady" isn't as disturbing as it once was.
Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said the girl met Hargrave on the Internet through the Livelinks chatline and dating service.
The two exchanged emails and phone numbers, and Hargrave arranged to meet the girl at the end of November, Whinham said. They eventually went back to Hargrave's house, where he allegedly assaulted her, said Whinham.
The girl reported the crime within a week, beginning a police investigation that involved working with Livelinks and trying to determine if there might be other alleged victims, said Whinham. Police served a search warrant on Hargrave Thursday.
While this story is disturbing enough it is, we should remeber how many assaults don't even get reported.
