There are plans in the works for more crime cameras on Philadelphia streets.
Officials said Philadelphia is now considering spending $5 million on the crime fighting cameras. Now aside from the Big Brother possibilties that this raises, I have some other problems with it. Instead of 5 MILLION dollars worth of cameras. how about you put more police on the street and create jobs. That way you help the economy and deter more crime. If you up the number of cops in key neighborhoods where it is terrible, you will even generate more good will from the residents. Also that money can go toward programs that actually improve the parts of the city that need it,by building or funding youth programs etc. Again this makes the city a better place and deters it. Well, thats my opinion anyway.
