article imageNew Flight Restrictions For Kids

By Brandigal (Donna)     Feb 1, 2007 in Business
Children will have to be accompanied by an adult on certain Air Canada flights starting this spring.
Children between the ages of five and 12 will not be allowed to fly alone on flights that require a stop or a connecting flight starting April 1st.
They decided to make this rule now because of uncertain weather when traveling. If flights get delayed or canceled due to the weather, it can be hard on children traveling alone.
Children used to be able to register for the Unaccompanied Minors Program that allowed them to fly alone. They would be given an escort.
Now children 12 to 17 can still sign for the program but only if it is a direct flight. All non-stop flights are not affected. But there is a fee for this service of $75.00
I personally would not want my child to travel alone unless the flight was a direct flight.
