Taktshang Taktshang Monastery is located at the edge of a cliff in Bhutan with Pictures.
Taktshang Taktshang is the most famous of monasteries in Bhutan. It hangs on a cliff at 3,120 metres (10,200 feet), some 700 meters (2,300 feet) above the bottom of Paro valley. Famous visitors include Ngawang Namgyal in the 17th century and Milarepa. The name means "Tiger's nest", the legend being that Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew there on the back of a tiger.
This monastery is located in Bhutan in a high cliff, it is amazing how they are located it looks like a bird's nest in a high mountain. The monastery was built in the eighth century but because of several fires it was restored recently. You can know more about this Buddisht Monastery from this Wikipedia article. Taktshang Taktshang monastary includes Seven temples and all can be visited by either foot or via mule riding.
Some of these places are cold up there, but I heard they do some meditation that keeps their body warm, so they can withstand cold temperatures and winds.
Would you like to visit this place? I am afraid of heights but would love to go see what is special about this temple.
