Accenture to hike headcount to 35k

Global IT major Accenture is all set to hike its headcount to 35,000 people in India by August 31, 2007.
As everybody know that IT industry is in boom now and that a lot of unemployemnt is being redused, Accenture which is a reputed and Multi National Company has now decided to increase the staff with another 35000 in India by the mid of this year.
By this milestone , India's Operations will overtake its US headcount which is a great news for Indians as citizens and for the company for gaining their revenue.
Company CEO William D Green, while being generous with his praises on the team here, stating jocularly -- ``this (the Indian operation’s growth) seems to be too good to be true’’, said that India is a key country for Accenture overall, a critical element in our Global Delivery Network in particular and integral to the company’s growth strategy.’’
Accenture in India has its branches in main cities like Bangalore, Chennai,Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune
The IT major is also ramping up its operations in other developing countries like China, Philippines, Eastern Europe and Latin America. Basilio Rueda, Senior Managing Director - Global Delivery Network, Accenture said that the network will touch 65,000 employees this fiscal. It currently has over 53,300 people in more than 43 delivery centres.
It is a great news for India to be said as , ``I don’t think there is going to be another phenomenon like India. To grow from zero to 35,000 people in about four years is definitely not going to happen.’’
According to the Accenture CEO, the company has put lots of investment and focus in technology and BPO businesses in the last five years. ``This year, our focus is on re-energising the consulting business. We see tons of opportunity to leverage our Indian operations in this area -- deep skills, research, analytics and talent -- on a global basis. We have lots of research capability in our Indian consulting unit, we will now add functional capability,’’ he said. The company recently set up a Business Consulting Analytics Centre in New Delhi.
