article imageBodies Finally Unearthed From 2005 Mudslide

By Evetson     Jan 30, 2007 in World
Hurricane Stan left Guatamala with 800+ deaths. 100 of those bodies have been found in the last two months.
It's a process that seemingly should have taken place over a year ago. In 2005, Hurricane Stan was responsible for the deaths of over 800 people in Guatemala. One violent effect of the hurricane was a mudslide responsible of over 250 of theose deaths. The initial searching for bodies was called off due to unsafe conditions and President Oscar Berger designated the area as a burial ground. Relatives of the dead ones understandably protested. Searching has now continued. So far, around 100 bodies have been found and more are expected.
It seems like a long time to wait, but hopefully now some of these families can finally receive some closure.
