FBI Joins Fight Against New Orleans' Crime Wave

By americangeiko.
FBI joins the NOPD to patrol crime riddled areas, solve murders, and stop drug trafficking.
"The goal is to detain, imprison, prosecute, convict and incarcerate these violent criminals, to take the pressure off the local criminal justice system," U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said at a news conference that drew New Orleans Police Superintendent Warren Riley and leaders from every federal law enforcement agency.
New Changes:
*ATF has renewed it's gun hotline, (504) 581-GUNS, or 581-4867, to allow citizens to report the illegal use of possession of firearms.
*The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will add six special agents to its team of six permanently assigned to New Orleans.
*9 additional FBI agents will join the 13 already assigned to the Violent Gang Safe Streets Task Force.
*The U.S. Marshal's office will add three deputies and one investigator to its team.
"We are bigger, stronger and faster than the scum out in the streets today causing this city heartache," said Col. Terry Ebbert, director of Homeland Security for New Orleans. "You can hold us accountable. We will make a difference."
