Bill O'Reilly is sick of people bashing Hillary...
(Story by Mac)
In a surprising turn of events, Bill O'Reilly stated on The O'Reilly Factor tonight that he feels sorry for Hillary Clinton because of the beating she is already taking by the press, and both major parties in Congress.
Talking to a Democratic strategic familiar with Clinton, he referred to Hillary's recent appearance in Iowa, when she made a self-depreciating joke about knowing "bad and abusive men" - earning a big laugh from the audience - and in a later press conference had her motives for the joke questioned by reporters. She joked again that they are always telling her to "lighten up" and when she does, her mental health gets questioned.
O'Reilly argued that Hillary may be the best prepared candidate the Dems have to offer, and the most experienced. Yet, because of her centrist positions and her tough personality, she is being maligned by both the far Left members of her own party, and by the Right.
O'Reilly suggests that Hillary is in for a tough few years leading up to the 2008 election, because she is centrist, the wife of Bill Clinton, and the first serious woman candidate for president. He says that in an era where Bill Clinton was "disassembled", the current sitting president is likewise being "disassembled", she is either very courageous or very stupid. . . . "and I know she isn't stupid".
Hillary may be the best thing going for the Left, and the more extreme of the party would do well to show her some respect. Voters wavering between the parties, or not able to find a Republican candidate they can get behind, may very well find in Hillary a Democrat they can stomach.
