article imageNew Zealand Plumber Drives Bentley Car to Jobs in Style

By Chris V. Thangham     Jan 27, 2007 in World
Peter Vandenberg has just spent about $360,000 on a new Bentley – and turned it into a plumber's van.
He has been turning heads on Auckland's North Shore after he had his new pride and joy kitted out with signwriting, a roof rack and equipment for his company Atlas Plumbing.
Mr Vandenberg has been in the plumbing business for six months, having previously made his living in property development in London and New Zealand. He says buying a Bentley as a plumbing vehicle is a bit of a practical joke on the industry.
Peter Vandenberg used to live in UK and was working in property development business and also in New Zealand. Then switched jobs to Plumbing business, he bought the car out of curiosity when everyone says a plumber cannot afford a Bentley car. He says he using the car as a promotional tool for his business and he claims he is getting lot of attention and business. His competitors have no comments about this, they just smile, maybe wondering how long Vandenberg will be doing this. The only problems he says, the Bentley is a gas guzzler and cleaning it daily is a chore. Wonder how he manages the scratches on the car with all the plumbing tools. But he is happy that he is getting his company noticed. His wife disapproved it first, but he says she is coming around now to his side.
I used to work for a friend in school and worked park time cleaning Car rental companies, I used to borrow his used BMW with Vacuum cleaner and other tools they used to look at me different, but it was fun. Will you drive a Bentley to a Plumbing job if you had a choice?
