Police rounded up unregistered sex offenders in Olympia and found a convicted child molester with guns and drugs.
Sheldon Anderson was arrested when police found in his home 31 guns and a lot of ammunition along with drugs and money. He was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, stolen weapons, and possession of a controlled substance.
They originally went to arrest him on failure to register as a sex offender and they did so outside his home. He then asked the officers if he could go inside his house to get the bail money. They allowed him to and followed him in and found 20 rifles, handguns and ammunition. Police said it was enough to arm a platoon of soldiers.
He is out on bail and said the charges are trumped up. He said the weed was for medical purposes and the guns were because he was stocking up to open up his own shop which he said he is allowed to do because the New York conviction in 1992 of molesting two girls was only a misdemeanor.
Police said it might be a misdemeanor in New York but in their area it is a serious felony.
Police arrested 18 sex offenders, including 2 who were considered a high risk to re offend. They all failed to register on the sex offenders list. They plan to enforce all sex offenders to register or they will get caught.
What is scary to me is, they said two of the offenders were a high risk to re offend, then why are they out of jail? When they are known to be a high risk.
And Anderson going into the house knowing he had all that in there. Did he forget? It is good the police found it. God knows what he would have done with all those guns.
