East Meadow - On July 26, pop duo Tegan and Sara will be playing a free concert at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York, along with singer-songwriter Christina Perri.
This will be part of Fresh 102.7 FM's "Fresh in the Park" series, which takes place at this Long Island park every summer.
Their hit song "Closer," which they co-wrote with producer Greg Kurstin, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs charts, as well as No. 16 on the Billboard Rock Songs charts, and it even broke into the Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaking at No. 90.
Thanks to the success of "Closer," the duo garnered the 2014 Juno award for "Single of the Year" for the hit tune, and the girls took home the Juno award for "Group of the Year." Their album Heartthrob was also named "Pop Album of the Year" by the Juno awards.
Tegan and Sara is comprised of identical twin sisters, Tegan and Sara Quinn, both of which are songwriters and they play such instruments as guitars and keyboards. This month, they opened for pop mega-star Lady Gaga as part of her 2014 tour in Quebec, Canada.
