article imageTaylor Swift's 'Blank Space' spends 6 weeks at top of the charts

By Markos Papadatos     Dec 25, 2014 in Music
Global music superstar Taylor Swift continues her reign on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with her latest single "Blank Space."
"Blank Space" has spent its sixth week at the top of the charts, where it dethroned Swift's very own "Shake It Off." She becomes the first female in the chart's history to accomplish this milestone (replace her previous No. 1 single with a follow-up single). "Blank Space" has charted for eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
"Shake It Off" and "Blank Space" are both tracks from her latest studio album, 1989, which was well-received by Digital Journal.
The only two females to surpass her this year in weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts include Meghan Trainor with "All About That Bass," which spent 8 weeks at the top, as well as Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," which spent 7 weeks at No. 1.
In addition, with 10 weeks at No. 1, Pharrell Williams' "Happy" was the most-played song of the year.
Congratulations to Taylor Swift on all of her commercial successes in the pop world.
