article imageSwedish pop star Eric Saade talks 'Sting,' Eurovision and music Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 16, 2015 in Music
Swedish pop star Eric Saade talks about his music career, Eurovision experience, latest single and he shares insights on his favorite past-times.
Regarding his latest single, "Sting," he said, "I actually called a Swedish songwriter, Fredrik Kempe, and kind of ordered the song. I needed this song to be really special! So we discussed how we wanted it a lot before we started to work."
He is following into the footsteps of several great Swedish pop stars, such as Tove Lo, who have taken the pop industry in the United States by storm. "It's great for Sweden that a lot of musicians make it in the states, but it's all about hard work and great music, and that's what I'm gonna do," he said with a smile.
In 2011, he came in third place, while he represented his country, Sweden, in Eurovision. "It was a great experience.I was young and I had a lot to learn, but I really loved it and I learned a lot from it," he said. "Third place felt great. The most important part about it was actually me being able to get even more fans and even more people to listen to my music."
His plans for the future are to continue doing music, and he wants the whole world to be able to listen to it.
On being nominated for Grammis, the Swedish equivalent of the Grammy awards, he said, "It's always great to be nominated. That means that the music is good, and that you're good enough to be among the biggest acts."
His other proudest accomplishments include having great concerts in Sweden, as well as creating new moments that he will be proud of in the future.
Each day, he is motivated by great music, as well as his fans. "Their support is a big thing to me," he said.
The hardest part of Saade's job as a musician is "knowing what to release." "Music is just a matter of taste. That makes it difficult to know what most of my fans and other people will like," he said.
His dream female duet choices include Ariana Grande and Ellie Goulding. For aspiring musicians, he recommends that they follow their hearts and do what they do best. "Work hard enough to get your music out in stores," he said.
In his spare time, Saade enjoys being home, in his own bed and his own couch. "I travel a lot sometimes, so that's why it's luxury to just stay home! Other than that, I just try to see my family and friends when I'm not working," he said.
His favorite past-time involved partying with his closest friends; moreover, he has a strict workout regimen, and while on tour it may be hard, but Saade keeps at it. "It's actually more about the food than the work out. Eat healthy, and work out. To be honest 80 percent is all about what you eat," he said.
For Saade, success means "satisfaction" in life. "I really hope I get to see everyone soon. I hope they will like my
upcoming music. Thank you for all the support," he concluded.
