article imageSteve Grand makes Top 10 list of most-funded Kickstarter projects

By Markos Papadatos     Mar 15, 2014 in Music
Thanks to the help of his dedicated fans, openly gay independent artist Steve Grand's upcoming album has been one of the top 10 most funded music projects in Kickstarter history.
He was able to reach his $81,000 goal in just 17 hours after his Kickstarter campaign launched on February 26. Within a 24 hour period, the project was shared 9,000 times on Facebook, where more than 1,600 consumers stepped up to help him fund his dream.
As of March 15, his campaign has raised $216,621, with 14 days to go.
"I am blown away by what my fans are doing," Steve Grand said in a press statement. "This is no longer just an album. It's a grassroots movement. Most of the contributions are from gifts of $10, $15 or $25. My fans aren't satisfied with giving just enough to get this record produced. They seem determined to put this album on the playing field with artists who are backed by major labels. Their message is clear: 'The sky is the limit. Let's see how far we can go!' Every dollar now means we can market and promote this album to an even wider audience and make our voices heard on an international scale."
His newest single and video for "Back to California," have garnered positive feedback from Digital Journal.
Other impressive songs from Grand include his previous single "Stay" and his breakthrough hit "All-American Boy."
