Singer-songwriter Cailee Rae talks new music, dream duets, fans (Includes interview)

She is influenced by many artists for many different reasons. “My top influences are Taylor Swift, because she’s an amazing businesswoman, Ed Sheeran for being an incredible songwriter and lyricist, and Sam Smith for the remarkable tone and control he has over his voice,” she said.

Rae noted that her musical style is quite unique. “It’s pop but has a blend of a lot of genres within it. It’s definitely my own style. I take the time to make each song my own and tell stories that people can relate to,” she said.

This spring, Rae will be releasing new music for her fans, which she affectionately dubs as CaeBaes. “I am really excited about my new music and content. I hope to eventually take my music on the road and be able to meet all my fans in person,” she said.

Her New Year’s resolution is to get a drum set so that she could learn how to play. She listed Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes as her dream male duet choices. “One of my choices would be Justin Bieber because I respect him a lot as an artist. He has so much talent and puts a lot of emotion into his songs which I appreciate as a listener and as an artist. Also, Shawn Mendes because he is my age and has come from the same ground that I have,” she said.

For aspiring singers, she said, “I would tell them to appreciate their tone of voice. When I first started music, I struggled with loving my own voice. There’s always room for improvement and ways to get better. It’s all about self love.”

She is fond of the fact that she can stay in touch with her fans via social media. “I definitely love the fact that I can chat with my fans through my social media. I enjoy going through their Instagrams and liking their photos and commenting on them. I love looking into my fans’ personal lives. I actually take a lot of inspiration from them. They have formed this amazing community with each other and it’s beautiful to see them loving and supporting not only me but each other,” she said.

Rae concluded, “I would like to say to my CaeBaes that I so appreciate the support and am incredibly grateful for them. It’s amazing how close we are and that they can lean on me and I can lean on them. It means so much that they believe in me and I can’t wait for them to hear my new music this spring.”
