article imageSinger Jake Owen profiled by Larry King about life and new music

By Markos Papadatos     Aug 20, 2014 in Music
Los Angeles - Country star Jake Owen sat down with veteran TV personality Larry King at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, for an episode of the web-series "Larry King Now."
King and Owen discussed his major headlining "Days of Gold" tour — as well as getting drunk on his first night opening for country superstar Kenny Chesney — and he opened up about how he loves granting wishes to people.
Throughout his career, Owen has opened for such esteemed country artists as Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Little Big Town, Sugarland, Keith Urban and Jason Aldean.
While he was attending Florida State, Owen was on the golf team, and a water-skiing accident resulted in shoulder surgery, which ended his career in the sport. Ever since, he randomly picked up a guitar and started to sing, and the rest is history.
"I promise this is the honest truth. I'll never forget just kind of singing along to a song, and my brother and I were sitting in the backseat of the car one time and he was like, 'Mom, you should like do something with Jake 'cause I think he can sing ok.' I'll never forget Jared said that," Owen recalled, referring to his twin brother, Jared Owen.
They also discussed his latest single, the serious ballad "What We Ain't Got," which Digital Journal declared as "captivating."
Regarding his new song, Owen told Larry King, "I don't think I ever want my world to stop. I think sometimes we all just need to understand that. That we can work our lives away but why when, you know, we just need to share it with the ones around us."
Owen continued in that same interview, "I feel like I'm at a point in my career where people are listening, and to be able to put a song out like that, um, it's my responsibility to do that."
King's Emmy-nominated web-series, Larry King Now, launched in 2012, marking his first move to the Internet. His groundbreaking show, produced by Ora.TV, gained tremendous attention, delivering compelling interviews with such luminaries as Oprah Winfrey, Ashton Kutcher, the Dalai Lama, Matthew McConaughey and Denzel Washington, among many others.
