article imageReview: Yanni delights on new studio album 'Sensuous Chill' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jan 31, 2016 in Music
Global music star Yanni is back with his new studio album "Sensuous Chill," and it is a neat collection of musical work.
His CD opens with "Thirst for Life," which has Greek flairs to it, and it is followed by the lilting "Rapture," which features ethereal vocals. "Drive" is more laid-back, while the uplifting "What You Get" feels like a true musical adventure. His single "Desert Soul" has been praised by Digital Journal for being "mesmerizing," and rightfully so. "1001" has a stunning beat to it and "The Keeper" has an easy-listening vibe to it.
One of the album's prime cuts includes "Whispers in the Dark," while "Seeing You Around" is a soothing vocal performance. "Orchid" is more empowering and "A Little Too Late" features hypnotic humming, as it were sung by a musical siren. "Dance for Me" has a sultry, Latin vibe and "Retreat to Dream" is more upbeat.
The piano-driven "Test of Time" is angelic, and it closes with the ballad "Can't Wait" and "I'm So."

The Verdict
Overall, Yanni's latest studio effort is solid from start to finish. It may be different than his previous musical work, but it still garners 4 out of 5 stars.
