Singer-songwriter Tove Lo is taking the music industry by storm thanks to her new single "Habits (Stay High)," an anthem of female empowerment.
"Habits (Stay High)," which was co-penned by Tove Lo, has been a commercial success, reaching No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, with the potential to climb higher. It has also peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs charts.
Her vocals are crisp, sultry and refreshing, while her songwriting is raw and authentic. It deals with the female narrator trying to get overcome a failing romance, and she is able to drown her sorrows via alcohol, sleeping and binge eating, as indicated in the song's lyrics. "I get home, I got the munchies, Binge on all my Twinkies, Throw up in the tub, Then I go to sleep, And I drank up all my money, Dazed and kinda lonely," Tove Lo sings.
A Swedish native, Tove Lo deserves to become the next Adele or Lorde in contemporary music. Her music is unique, especially since it contains elements of pop, alternative, adult contemporary, rock and even electronic music, proving to be one of the most eclectic artists of the year.
The Verdict
Tove Lo delivers on her single "Habits (Stay High)." She deserves to be nominated for the 2015 Grammy for "Best New Artist" and for "Best Pop Solo Performance" for her captivating vocal performance on this tune. It is no wonder that the radio airwaves in New York cannot get enough of playing this tune, especially since it stands out by a mile. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
