They had three opening acts, Knock Out Drops, American Bombshells, and The Last Hombres, all of which were talented and able to warm up the stage for The Bogmen.
The headliners took the stage at 10 p.m., with a stage that featured green and red lights, coupled with an American flag backdrop. Their vocals were upbeat and infectious, and they had the crowd on their feet the entire time. Their live version of “Raga” was a great deal of fun. Throughout the evening, orange, white, blue and red lights alternated over the stage, which added to the show’s appeal.
The Bogmen formed in 1993 by such band members as Billy Campion, Bill Ryan, Brendan Ryan, Mark Wike, P.J. O’Connor and Clive Tucker. They garnered their name for their “tribal, huntish” sound. Their big break came in 1995, when they were signed to Arista Records, thus releasing their first studio effort, Life Begins at 40 Million.
The Verdict
Overall, The Bogmen were able to deliver at The Paramount. Their inaugural hometown show was well-received, and their fans were enthusiastic as ever, reciting every lyric verbatim. They are worth seeing live whenever they are in the area. Their show earned two thumbs up.
