Wantagh - On July 10, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators performed at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, while it was still daylight.
They served as the opening act for the iconic rock band Aerosmith.
Slash and Kennedy commenced their set with a powerful performance of "Ghost," and it was followed by an equally captivating vocal of the Guns N' Roses hard rock classic "Nightrain," which featured a killer guitar solo from Slash.
They dusted off "Back from Cali," the track from Slash's eponymous solo album and gave it a fresh feel, and they continued with "World On Fire" and "You Could Be Mine."
"You guys having a good time at this big rock show?" Kennedy asked the audience, prior to belting out "Anastasia."
"I want to hear you scream," Myles said midway though the song, and he had the crowd clapping their hands up in the air.
It was followed by "You're a Lie" and "Sweet Child O' Mine," the latter of which was a vocal masterpiece that showcased Kennedy's rich and dynamic vocals, as well as the band's instrumental prowess.
"Are you still with us? Are you having a good time?" Kennedy asked. "I hope so."
They changed the pace of their set, with the stunning rock ballad "By The Sword," as the stage was graced in red lights, which proved their versatility as a band.
Kennedy praised the Jones Beach Theater crowd for being "fantastic" and he expressed his gratitude towards them for "keeping rock and roll alive in the United States." He subsequently noted how honored he was to be part of this tour.
They closed their set with their rendition of Guns N' Roses' "Paradise City," where they were able to get all the people on their feet, and they had them keep their hands up in the air. Most impressive about this tune was that Slash joined Kennedy on backing vocals briefly, and he concluded the song with an impressive guitar solo.
Fan and attendee Virginia Barnett remarked, "Slash and Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators were great. The night was unforgettable and fantastic."
The Verdict
