By Markos Papadatos     Oct 24, 2015 in Music
Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes' new song "Stitches" is perhaps the greatest pop song of the year by a male artist.
It has an infectious beat that will make the listener instantly want to clap along with him, and Mendes' vocals are warm, soothing, upbeat and simultaneously haunting. He is able to display his wide range as an artist on this song. It was co-penned by such songwriters as Daniel Parker, Teddy Geiger and Daniel Kyriakides.
"Needle and the thread, gotta get you out of my head, needle and the thread, gonna wind up dead," Mendes sings.
"Stitches" has fared well from a commercial standpoint in the United States, and rightfully so. It reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts as of this week, with the potential to climb higher. "Stitches" has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
