article imageReview: Sara Evans stuns on new album 'Slow Me Down' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Mar 19, 2014 in Music
Country star Sara Evans released her newest studio album "Slow Me Down" on March 11, via her label, RCA Records Nashville.
It opens with the stellar title track single "Slow Me Down" and it is followed by her bold version of Gavin DeGraw's "Not Over You," which features DeGraw on harmony vocals. This duet is one of my two favorite tracks on the album since Evans's vocals are mellifluous and DeGraw is haunting on harmonies. Both vocalists compliment each other well on this stunning collaboration.
Equally impressive is her duet with Isaac Slade, the lead singer of the group The Fray on the tune "Can't Stop Loving You," as well as "If I Run," which she performed for the first time live at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury this past September, where she debuted the song by singing a few verses a-capella. It is safe to say that her studio recording of the tune is quite remarkable.
She changes the pace of the CD with the uplifting "Sweet Spot" and "Good Love Is Hard to Find" is a breath of fresh air.
"Better Off" is my other favorite song on the CD, which features Vince Gill's velvet vocals.
It closes with the infectious "Gotta Have You" and the upbeat "Revival," which she showcases her tremendous range as an artist.
The Verdict
Overall, Sara Evans delivers on her brand new seventh studio album. Her vocals are as crystalline and dynamic as ever. She garners an A rating for this effort. Her rendition of "Not Over You" alone is worth the price of the CD.
