article imageReview: Sam Hunt soars on debut country single 'Leave The Night On' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 4, 2014 in Music
Former football player turned country singer Sam Hunt has released his debut single "Leave The Night On" and it is a pleasant listen.
A Georgia native, Hunt has started his career writing songs for such mega-stars as Kenny Chesney ("Come Over"), Billy Currington ("We Are Tonight") and Keith Urban ("Cop Car"), and the rest is history. While I am a big fan of all three aforementioned artists, I must say that Hunt's cover versions of these songs, that he would play in his live shows, are better than the originals.
He is signed to MCA Nashville, and his lead single "Leave The Night On" is already in the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, after charting for three weeks, which is quite an accomplishment for a new artist.
"Girl, you got the beat right, Killin' in your Levis, High on your lovin's got me buzzin' like a streetlight, It's still early out in Cali, baby, don't you wanna rally again," he sings.
It is a refreshing country-pop tune, that displays Hunt's strong songwriting ability, and use of vivid imagery. As the song states, it's the ideal tune to listen to while driving in your car, after "rolling down the windows." Instead of going home, the male narrator tells his girl that they can "leave the night on," and enjoy the outdoors.
Another neat lyric is as follows: "The sun'll steal the magic from us soon, So let's take one more trip around the moon."
The Verdict
Sam Hunt's new song "Leave The Night On" garners 4.5 out of 5 stars, and it is a substantial indication that his career in the country genre is off that a great start. I look forward to more original music and songs penned by Hunt.
