article imageReview: RaeLynn dazzles on new country single 'God Made Girls' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 29, 2014 in Music
Up-and-coming country singer RaeLynn has released her wonderful debut single "God Made Girls" to the radio airwaves on July 1.
RaeLynn rose to national prominence after appearing on the second season of the reality singing competition, The Voice, where she finished third on Blake Shelton's team, Team Blake. I instantly became a fan of hers once I hear her distinct and haunting version of "If I Die Young" by the country group The Band Perry.
"God Made Girls" was co-penned with such songwriters Lori McKenna, Liz Rose and Nicolle Galyon. It was released on her record label, The Valory Music Company, which is home to such country artists artists as Reba McEntire, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert, The Mavericks and Thomas Rhett.
She has a little Miranda Lambert in her voice, coupled by her sweet twang. She has found a way to blend traditional country music with modern country on this new tune, and it works effectively for RaeLynn.
It has already reached the Top 35 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, and climbing.
In the song, RaeLynn gives several convincing reasons as to why God made girls, especially they wear pretty skirts, they are the ones that flirt, and they need to hold the boys' hands. "He needed something soft and loud and sweet and proud, But tough enough to break a heart, Something beautiful and breakable that lights up in the dark," she sings.
Her backing vocals in the chorus quite addicting, especially every time she says the song's title "God Made Girls" another reasons pops up as to why he made them, such as "for singing' in your front seat" and "for dancin' to our own beat"), which makes this feel like two songs in one.
The Verdict
Overall, RaeLynn's latest single "God Made Girls" is absolutely delightful. For a 20-year-old musician, she possesses a great deal of talent. She has definitely been her record label's best-kept secret for years, and I am thrilled that the secret is out. It garners an A rating.
