Review: Rachel Platten phenomenal on new single ‘Fight Song’ (Includes first-hand account)

The lyrics for “Fight Song” are captivating and they tug at the heartstrings. It is a track from her Fight Song EP, which was released on May 15.

Platten’s vocals are crisp and impressive, where the listener can recall such songstresses as Taylor Swift and Tristan Prettyman. Her lyrics are powerful and they paint a vivid picture in the minds of her listeners.

“Like how a single word can make a heart open, I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion,” Platten sings.

It is making its way up the Billboard charts and rightfully so. Hopefully, with the release of the song’s music video it will climb higher.

The Verdict

Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” is the best vocal performance by a new female artist in 2015. It is a substantial indication that the Columbia Records label knows natural talent. She deserves a “Best New Artist” Grammy nomination to the very least for a job well done. This song is too big to ignore. It will serve as an optimistic anthem for the majority of her listeners, several of which can easily be drawn to tears, due to its raw lyrics. Her inspiring single garners 5 out of 5 stars.
