Review: Pop singer Skylar Stecker releases neat single ‘That’s What’s Up’ (Includes first-hand account)

“That’s What’s Up” is catchy and radio-friendly, and she maintains good control over her vocals, where the listener can recall pop superstar Demi Lovato, which ought to be taken as a compliment. It is the lead single from her breakthrough studio album, which will be out on September 25 on Cherrytree Records and Interscope. Her bubbly personality is evident throughout her music video, and that should take her far in the music industry.

The colorful vignettes are a real treat in her video, especially where Skylar and her friends are enjoying themselves with confetti, pillow fights, dance parties and even spray paint. This Wisconsin beauty sure knows how to throw a party.

Her music video premiered on Yahoo! Music, and it may be seen by clicking here.

“For all the times that I spent second guessing me, I got up and became who I wanna be, Thanks to you, you
For all the times that I thought that I wouldn’t make it, You were by my side and I appreciate it,” Stecker sings, in the opening verse, where she lures her listener into her sassy tune.

From a live standpoint, Stecker knows how to work the stage. She gave a memorable performance earlier this summer at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York.

The Verdict

Skylar Stecker proves to be a triple-threat in the entertainment industry: she can wring songs, sing and act. “That’s What’s Up” should propel her to the next level of stardom. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
