article imageReview: Pentatonix shines on new holiday album 'That's Christmas To Me' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Oct 22, 2014 in Music
A-capella vocal group Pentatonix has released their highly-anticipated holiday album "That's Christmas To Me" and it is sheer perfection.
Just when you thought that Pentatonix could not possibly top themselves with their EP PTX, Vol. III, they prove their fans wrong again, with their latest holiday project, That's Christmas To Me.
It opens with their smooth version of the up-tempo "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," which will inspire their listeners to sing along, and it is followed by the soothing "White Winter Hymnal" and they take their fans on a ride with "Sleigh Ride," which features their impressive harmonies.
Their version of "Winter Wonderland" is laid-back and mellow and they incorporate it with a neat medley of "Don't Worry Be Happy." The title track is worthy of becoming a single at some point in the future.
"Mary, Did You Know?" is haunting to the core, while they change the pace with the fun and upbeat "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy." It's great to hear "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" with beat-boxing and Pentatonix delivers on this seasonal classic. "Silent Night" is angelic, and their version of Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" is an added treat. Menzel would be proud of their unique twist to her signature song.
The Verdict
Overall, Pentatonix's new holiday album is pure joy and one of the best projects I've heard this year, along with their latest EP. They never cease to amaze their listeners. They deserve another round of applause for a second superb CD. It garners an A rating.
