article imageReview: Night Terrors of 1927 delight on 'Always Take You Back' single Special

By Markos Papadatos     Aug 9, 2014 in Music
On August 8, musical duo Night Terrors of 1927 released their newest single "Always Take You Back," via their record label, Atlantic Records.
Their radio single "Always Take You Back" has a haunting vibe to it. Jarrod's vocals are crisp and soaring, and his delivery is delicate. The "always take you back" echo in the chorus, is absolutely addicting, the drum beats are catchy, and I love how the tune builds up slowly into a true vocal event (similar to 30 Seconds To Mars' "City of Angels"). It has a positive message to it, that one will always be there for the other person, and many listeners can relate to its message.
Night Terrors of 1927 is comprised of Blake Sennett (formerly of Rilo Kiley and The Elected) and Jarrod Gorbel (formerly of the group The Honorary Title). They are based out of Los Angeles, California, and they will be out on tour on select dates this fall with hit pop duo, Capital Cities, and they will play three shows in New York City, two of which will be at Webster Hall on October 29 and 30, as well as at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, New York, on October 31. What better way to spend Halloween than to hear "Always Take You Back" live.
The Verdict
"Always Take You Back" by Night Terrors of 1927 is a gem. Discovering this musical duo was a pleasant treat this summer, but then again, Atlantic Records has always been a label where they recognize serious talent and it prevails. Their song garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. I look forward to hearing more of their new music in the future.
