article imageReview: Midnight Red covers Shakira and Rihanna in new music video Special

By Markos Papadatos     May 17, 2014 in Music
Pop boy band Midnight Red covers "Can't Remember to Forget You," a collaboration by such female mega-stars Shakira and Rihanna.
The pop quintet is made up of Anthony Ladao, Colton Rudloff, EricSecharia, Joey Diggs Jr. and Thomas Augusto. The track and vocals were produced by Anthony from the group, and it features a guitar solo by Hubie Wang. Midnight Red directed this video themselves.
The "Can't Remember To Forget You" video commences with Thomas Augusto singing the opening lyrics in Spanish, while Colton takes on the second verse in English, while the group is having fun on the beach. All five members harmonize well together on the chorus, as they are playing beach volleyball in the background. They are also having fun in the playground with Joey doing pull-ups, and subsequently Anthony is seen jogging in the sand on the beach. Eric is wearing the same hat throughout the video, which is a nice treat.
Midnight Red is seen playing other sports in this video such as basketball and ping pong, and midway through, it features several of their live performance clips with their massive crowds. The parts that they sing together in Spanish sound incredible and they ought to sing in both languages in future songs.
The Verdict
The song was originally co-written by Shakira and Rihanna, and Midnight Red does it justice. I have been a fan of theirs from the very start and I have always enjoyed every song they covered, since they manage to put their own twist to it.
