Review: Michael Ray charms on ‘Kiss You In the Morning’ single and video (Includes first-hand account)

“Kiss You In the Morning” was co-penned by songwriters Justin Wilson and Michael White, and it was subsequently produced by Scott Hendricks. His song’s uplifting music video was directed by Edgar Esteves, and it has a feel-good and fun vibe to it.

“Oh you little outlaw, Stealing my heart and all, When you drop it down low, Touch your toes girl, You know you just show it off, That little tattoo on your tan line, oh man, Pretty little butterfly, What else have you got to hide,” Ray sings.

His baritone vocals on “Kiss You In The Morning” are reminiscent of such country acts as Florida Georgia Line meets Lee Brice, thus making it radio-friendly. It features a killer electric guitar solo, and the single sits at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, with the possibility of becoming his first chart-topping country single. It is played consistently on New York’s Nash FM 94.7.

The Verdict

Overall, Michael Ray showcases a great deal of potential on his new single “Kiss You In The Morning,” and it is the quintessential introduction to his artistry. Country listeners ought to look forward to his eponymous studio album that was just released on Warner Music Nashville. “Kiss You In The Morning” garners an A- rating.
