Review: Meghan Trainor back with sassy new single ‘Dear Future Husband’ (Includes first-hand account)

It is a track from her debut studio album, Title, as well as its third radio single. She co-wrote the tune with her producer Kevin Kadish. From a lyrical standpoint, it is the female narrator’s letter to her future husband or boyfriend of the things he should be aware of, prior to entering in a relationship with her. Trainor’s lyrics are quite clever, backed with conviction.

“Dear future husband, Make time for me, Don’t leave me lonely, And know we’ll never see your family more than mine,” Trainor sings.

Trainor looks stunning in the song’s music video and it is a witty clip, which features the songstress cooking, scrubbing the kitchen floors in a late 1950s setting, that the viewer can easily recall the motion picture Revolutionary Road, starring Kate Winslet.

The Verdict

Meghan Trainor’s “Dear Future Husband” has the potential to become her next Top 5 hit, if not better. It has a similar beat to her previous singles “Lips Are Movin'” and “All About That Bass,” and that helps. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
