By Markos Papadatos     Jul 24, 2016 in Music
Wantagh - Iconic southern rock group Marshall Tucker Band performed a set at the 2016 Laid Back Festival, which was held at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island.
The festival is headlined by Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band, and Marshall Tucker Band performed on the main stage. Doug Gray began their set with the classic "This Ol' Cowboy," which featured a killer flute solo from Marcus James Henderson.
Chris Hicks showcased his tremendous range on the bluesy "Dog Eat Dog World," and they picked up the pace with their popular hit "Fire on the Mountain," where everybody was singing along with them. Chris Hicks, Marcus James Henderson and Rick Willis delivered on the harmonies for the latter tune. B.B. Borden was incomparable on drums.
Gray went on to thank the Jones Beach crowd for "keeping the Marshall Tucker Band alive for 45 years."
"How ya'll feeling?" Gray asked, and he immediately broke into their signature song "Can't You See," which is a southern rock anthem. This southern rock staple earned them a standing ovation at the end.
The Verdict
Overall, Marshall Tucker Band was fantastic at this year's Laid Back Festival at Jones Beach on Long Island. The band members were exceptional on vocals, and Elliott Satterfield rocked the bass. Their Long Island show garnered 5 out of 5 stars.
