Review: Luke Bryan gets the country party started at Mohegan Sun Arena (Includes first-hand account)

Fellow country star Dustin Lynch served as his opening act, who was able to warm up the stage for Bryan.

Bryan began his set with the upbeat and fun “Rain Is a Good Thing,” prior to show his fans his spitfire side in “Kick The Dust Up.” Equally catchy and uplifting was “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” and it was followed by “Move” and “I See You.”

The infectious “Crash My Party” garnered an enormous amount of applause from the Mohegan Sun audience, while Bryan paid homage to Connecticut in “Play It Again” by incorporating the state in its lyrics, which resonated well with the crowd.

“Roller Coaster” was yet another incredible vocal performance, while “Strip It Down” was more mellow, sultry and bluesy. He tugged at the heartstrings with the moving ballad “Drink a Beer” and equally beautiful was the piano-driven “Do I.”

One of the highlight vocals of the night was the ultra-catchy “Drunk on You” and he rocked on the autobiographical “Country Man,” prior to closing with “That’s My Kind of Night.”

For his encore, the Georgia native returned to perform his party anthem “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” which was the song that his female fans were anxiously awaiting for the entire night. It is safe to say that, for their sake, it was worth the wait.

The Verdict

Overall, Luke Bryan was able to deliver at Mohegan Sun Arena, and he interacted well with the crowd. If there is any doubt on who deserves to win this year’s “Entertainer of the Year” award at the upcoming Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards, then all one needs to do is see a highlight reel of his live performance at Mohegan Sun. His show earned an A rating.
