London - Linkin Park played an outstanding gig at London's O2 Arena on November 23. The hard rock band performed exceptionally, offering the audience an exhilarating performance.
This was the first night of two sell-out shows at London's largest music venue. The band was in the city to promote their new album The Hunting Party as well as to rattle through some of their most memorable hits.

After a dynamic intro, Linkin Park launched straight into the song "Guilty All the Same," which is the lead track on their new album. The stand out part was some impressive guitar playing from front-man Mike Shinoda, which thrilled the 20,000-capacity crowd.
The fusion of old and new material continued; the band played tight and Chester Bennington's raw and beautiful vocals were clear and sung from the heart. The crow bobbed their heads, jumped and moved, and clapped along in appreciation.
The highlights were the fusion of songs "Leave Out All the Rest" / "Shadow of the Day" / "Iridescent"; and a pulsating "Burn It Down." As an encore, the biggest hits were pulled on including "New Divide," "What I've Done" and "Bleed It Out". As the final song of the evening, "Bleed It Out" featured a marvelous crashing drum solo from Rob Bourdon.

Prior to coming on stage, Linkin Park were supported by the metalcore band Of Mice & Men. The group's lead singer, Austin Carlile came on stage a couple of times during the Linkin Park set, most notably to share vocals on "Faint." Otherwise, the main vocal interplay was between Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda. This dynamic of Bennington's singing and Shinoda's rapping plays as a major part within Linkin Park's music

What is interesting about the band is that they don't simply produce polished renditions of their album tracks; instead they play around with some songs to enhance the concert going experience. With other numbers, songs are combined to create some stomping mash-ups.

The band are very interactive, with the lead singers frequently stepping into the crowd during songs, carrying on belting out songs while being hugged by adoring fans. Arguably receiving the biggest cheers was Chester Bennington, especially when he emerged for the last number without wearing his t-shirt.
In summary, an enjoyable and memorable evening, with the old and new material carefully crafted together over some 100 minutes of powerful rock.
