article imageReview: Lee Ann Womack mesmerizes on new single 'The Way I'm Livin'' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jun 24, 2014 in Music
To say that country songstress Lee Ann Womack has one of the most purest and angelic voices on planet Earth is an understatement.
Best-known for her signature song "I Hope You Dance," Womack is back with her long-awaited new single "The Way I'm Livin'," which was penned by Grammy-nominated songwriter Adam Wright. The single was officially released on June 23, via her new record label, Sugar Hill Records. It is also the title track of her forthcoming studio album, which will be out on September 23. This will be her first studio album in six years as Digital Journal previously reported.
"The Way I'm Livin'" has a traditional country vibe to it that it reminiscent of the songs from her There's More Where That Came From album. It is an acoustic vocal, where her vocals are piercing and haunting, while simultaneously honey-rich. Womack's talent is a rare combination for sure.
The song's lyrics are conversational and they paint a vivid picture. "Oh mama the way that I'm livin', If I ever get to heaven it's a doggone shame," Womack sings.
A Texas native, Womack premiered the song on Wall Street Journal's website, and it may be heard by clicking here.
The Verdict
Lee Ann Womack's new music is the heart and soul of traditional country music. She possesses a harking soprano voice that makes her fans and listeners take notice each time she opens her mouth. Womack is a modern day Dolly Parton meets Tammy Wynette. Her new song garners 5 out of 5 stars, and look for it to sweep all the awards in the upcoming season. It is one of the few "wow" female traditional country vocal performances this year. If this is an indication of what her new album may be, then the country world is in for the treat of their lifetime. Well done Lee Ann.
