Review: Kiefer Sutherland amazing at The Founders Room on Long Island (Includes first-hand account)

Backed by a talented four-piece band, Sutherland opened his set with “Can’t Stay Away,” and took the stage promptly at 9:00 p.m. He picked up the pace with “I’ll Do Anything,” where his two gifted guitar players (Austin Valleijo and Michael Gurley) displayed their velvet background vocals.

“How ya’ll doing tonight?” Sutherland asked. “Thank you so much for coming on a Wednesday night,” he added, prior to nothing that his forthcoming studio country album will be out in July, and he will be singing 12 or 13 songs from that collection.

It was followed by the slow-moving ballad “Calling Out Your Name,” and he shared that the next song, the nonchalant “Truth In Your Eyes” is about losing someone that you love.

Sutherland noted that he made this record with his best friend, Jude Cole, whom he has known for a long time. He immediately broke into his harmonica-driven single “Not Enough Whiskey,” which showcased his rich and raspy vocals.

The acclaimed actor-turned-musician raised his glass for his fans and took a shot of whiskey. “Thank you all for coming out. God bless you all,” he said, prior to singing “Going Home.”

He continued with the sultry ballad “My Best Friend,” and he picked up the pace yet again with the upbeat “Ways To Be Wicked.”

Sutherland promised that he did not write the song “Goodbye” for anybody in this room, and he delivered a soaring version of the song. He closed his set with such songs as “All She Wrote” and the title track tune “Down In A Hole.”

The Verdict

Overall, Kiefer Sutherland’s exclusive show at The Founders Room was a great deal of fun. He was entertaining and successful in showing his passion for country music for his Long Island fan-base. He and his band members are worth seeing live whenever they are in town. His live show is a substantial indication that his future in music is promising. His concert earned 4 out of 5 stars.
