On February 1, pop superstar Katy Perry headlined the Super Bowl halftime show at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
It was sponsored by Pepsi. Perry began her set with "Roar," while riding a large elephant, and it was followed by "Dark Horse," which was a neat dance number. The backgrounds and designs were vivid and vibrant.
Acclaimed rocker and guitarist Lenny Kravitz joined Perry on her breakthrough chart-topping single "I Kissed a Girl." She changed the pace of her set with the mellifluous "Teenage Dream," which is an all-time fan-favorite tune, and she continued with yet another summer anthem, "California Gurls."
Over the course of her Super Bowl set, Perry's outfit changes were impressive. Rapper Missy Elliott was Perry's other special musical guest who joined her on "Get Ur Freak On," where Elliott sang lead vocals and Perry joined in on harmonies and danced along with her. The same was true for "Work It" and "Lose Control," both of which also resonated well with the Super Bowl audience.
Perry closed with a powerhouse rendition of "Firework," which was the performance that everybody was waiting for. It was quite inspirational, and she elevated to the top of the venue thanks to the help of modern technology. It was subsequently followed by a fireworks display, and she managed to get the crowd on their feet.
"Thank you. God Bless America," Perry shouted.
The Verdict
Overall, Katy Perry proved to be at the top of her game at this year's Super Bowl show. It is no wonder that she is the most-followed celebrity on Twitter worldwide. Her live performance garnered 4 out of 5 stars.
