The concept behind his latest music video is unique. It commences as a "
Joe Nichols adventure" comic book, which tells the story of the song with the main characters animated at times (with speech balloons expressing their thoughts), as well as
Nichols singing and playing his acoustic guitar, with a neon lights background that reads "Yeah." It was directed by acclaimed video director Wes Edwards.
It tells the story of a man in a hayfield with his female love interest during an evening in the summer. Their night includes having shots of whiskey, as well as fruity drinks, listening to music on her iPod, and spending the night under the full moon together. It is both warm and witty at times.
Most impressive about the video is that each time
Nichols sings the word "Yeah," the neon lights with the "Yeah" sign flash.
This mid-tempo tune displays Nichols' rich yet powerful baritone voice. It was produced by
Mickey Jack Cones and Tony Brown. It was co-penned by songwriters Ashley Gorley and Bryan Simpson and it is featured on his critically-acclaimed new album
Crickets.
The Verdict
Does this song deserve to go No. 1 on the country charts? "Yeah." Does his music video deserve to catapult to No. 1 on GAC's Top 20 Video Countdown? "Yeah." It is a great song and a fun music video.
