article imageReview: Jared Leto nails 'City of Angels' at iHeartRadio Music awards

By Markos Papadatos     May 4, 2014 in Music
The inaugural iHeartRadio Music awards took place on May 1 in Los Angeles and it featured live performances by a diverse group of artists.
The performers of the night included country superstar Luke Bryan, rapper Pitbull, pop star Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Bastille, as well as The Voice coaches Blake Shelton and Shakira, but the highlight vocal of the evening belonged to Jared Leto, the lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars.
Aside from Jared, the rock trio is made up of Tomo Milicevic and Jared's older brother, Shannon.
Though Shannon was absent at this award's show, Jared and Tomo (on keyboards) delivered an exceptional rendition of their single "City of Angels," which hits home to Los Angeles. Scenes from their song's music video (that depicted stories from some A-list actors and celebrities about the trails and tribulations of Los Angeles) played in the background as Jared showcased his rich, bold yet haunting vocals. They displayed a great deal of charisma and energy that was equal in excellence to a live U2 performance.
Their music video, which Leto directed himself, can be seen here:
"One life, one love, live," were the lyrics that Leto stressed throughout the duration of the song.
Following their dynamic performance, Thirty Seconds to Mars received a thunderous applause from fans and audience members. Their vocal garnered an A rating. It is safe to say that Jared Leto is a man that can do it all: sing, act, write songs and produce his own videos.
