article imageReview: Jared Leto and Thirty Seconds to Mars rocks on 'Do or Die' single Special

By Markos Papadatos     Aug 23, 2014 in Music
On August 19, Thirty Seconds to Mars had performed at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater and Jared Leto revealed that "Do or Die" is their latest single.
Their song's music video, directed by Jared Leto, commences with a dramatic warning that viewer discretion is advised and that it can potentially cause seizures. It features real-life people from all over the world telling their moving stories about their aspirations and dreams, as well as the band performing in a live setting, Leto running in the woods, waving flags from different countries they are in, all of which makes it more compelling and visually striking.
"Do or Die" was written and produced by Leto. It is an upbeat, electro-rock song with electric guitars, drums and synthesizers. It deals with one taking their own stance on their beliefs, and living life to the fullest. Leto's vocals are raw, powerful and captivating.
"Fate is coming, that I know, Time is running, got to go, Faith is coming, that I know. Let it go.
Here right now, Under the banner of heaven, we dream out loud," Leto sings.
It was quite the spectacle when they played it live at Jones Beach Theater this past week in New York as part of "The Carnivores" tour, ranking as one of their best songs in their set, along with "City of Angels." Leto had noted that it reached the Top 20 on the charts, solely thanks to their support from fans, since they do not have a record label at the moment.
The Verdict
Thirty Seconds To Mars' latest single "Do or Die" garners an A rating. The band soars as whole on this tune, and hopefully, with more and more fans hearing and embracing it, the single will climb up a lot higher on the charts. Nevertheless, this is a band that knows how to rock and simultaneously connect with the listeners' hearts through their music.
