New York - On November 20, Tony winner Idina Menzel performed for iHeartRadio at the iHeartRadio Theater in New York, presented by P.C. Richard and Son.
The acclaimed actress and songstress was able to put her fans and listeners in the holiday spirit thanks to her eloquent vocals. This show was in support of her latest studio album, Holiday Wishes.
"Merry Christmas. Happy Halloween. Let's get started," she said jokingly. "Happy Thanksgiving. Happy holidays," she added.
Menzel opened her mini-concert with "Do You Hear What I Hear." She subsequently paid homage to the late Whitney Houston for inspiring her to sing that song growing up.
She changed the pace of her set with the upbeat and cheery "Holly Jolly Christmas," which featured a neat keyboard solo.
"How are we doing everybody? Are we feeling the holiday spirit?" she asked. Menzel thanked iHeartRadio for affording her the opportunity to do this show at their distinguished venue.
"December Prayer," which she wrote, is a poignant ballad that really tugged at the heartstrings. Her rendition of Joni Mitchell's "River" was utterly fantastic. "All I Want for Christmas" was uplifting, fun and sassy. "I'm sweating," she joked.
Menzel's version of "White Christmas" was nostalgic and unique, as she displayed her incredible vocal range. Backed by two gifted female backing vocalists, she delivered a stellar, acoustic version of "Let It Go," the theme song from Frozen. She closed with a tender cover of "Silent Night," and subsequently wished her fans a "happy holiday."
Fans of acting and theater, can catch Menzel on the hit Broadway production, If/Then.
